AccessNI disclosure: applicant information
Read this before you start your AccessNI application.
A criminal record check is required for the role you have applied for. In Northern Ireland this check is carried out by AccessNI once it receives a valid application. At the end of the process AccessNI issues a disclosure certificate, which includes criminal record and other relevant information.
You can find out more on the AccessNI pages on nidirect (opens in a new tab).
If you are applying for an enhanced check with a barred list check, you must tell the organisation asking for the check, before you start, if there is any reason why you cannot work in regulated activity.
The application is made online through nidirect, and you will need a nidirect account. Your application is checked and authorised by an approved umbrella body before it goes to AccessNI. AccessNI's privacy notice (opens in a new tab) explains how it uses your information.
What you should know
- Access Compliance Group has been appointed to check and authorise your application.
- The name of the signatory who will authorise it, and the PIN to enter on the online application, are in the email we send you.
- You will be asked to upload two identity documents to the application. AccessNI destroys these 90 days after the certificate is issued, in line with its retention policy.
- Your employer, not Access Compliance Group, is responsible for deciding whether to offer you the position.
- Having a criminal record does not necessarily prevent you from getting a position.
- A policy on recruiting ex-offenders is in place. You can ask for a copy.
- The statutory AccessNI Code of Practice (opens in a new tab) applies to how your information is handled. You can ask for a copy.
If you have questions about the process, first contact the person who asked you to complete the AccessNI application.
